Free and privacy-friendly web services

About Hostux Network

Hostux Network provides free, accessible web services designed to reduce dependence on large platforms. The project follows a simple idea: offer useful, self-hosted tools that are more respectful of privacy.

Overview

The Internet still relies heavily on centralized, closed services built around data collection. Hostux tries to provide a more sober alternative: independently hosted services, based on free software, and usable without an advertising-driven logic.

The goal is not to reinvent everything, but to make practical tools available again: communication, sharing, publishing, collaboration and network services, with a more transparent approach to technology and usage.

How the services work

Not all services have the same constraints. Some are open without an account, others require registration, and a few may have specific usage rules depending on their nature.

Common terms are grouped on the Terms of Use page. When a service has a specific operating mode, the information is provided directly on its dedicated page.

Free software and transparency

Hostux Network relies on free software for practical, technical and political reasons. This makes it possible to use auditable tools, contribute to their distribution and avoid building the project on opaque components.

The site also reuses part of the approach initiated by Libreops.cc, which published the source code of its platform. This base was then adapted to the context and needs of Hostux.

A volunteer-run project

Hostux.network and the associated services are maintained voluntarily, using personally funded time and resources. The project remains deliberately independent, which also means keeping the infrastructure simple and sustainable.

Approximate annual costs:

  • domains: 245 €/year
  • infrastructure: 865 €/year
